Course Objectives:
Upon completion of the course the learners will cover the following content:
- State and identify the necessary clothing required and locate the various standard marks
- Identify safety features on a chainsaw
- Maintain the guide bar and sharpen chains to manufacturers specifications
- Carry out correctly all routine maintenance
- Prepare the chainsaw for use with the correct fuel and oil mix and chain lubrication
- Start the chainsaw from both cold and hot in a safe manner
- Cross cut timber accurately to required lengths in a safe manner and organise site safety
Course Outline:
- Outline PUWER, testing, maintenance, and suitability of equipment
- PPE, respiratory protective requirements
- Implications of vibration, noise etc
- Outline electrical safety issues
- Explain wheel markings, wheel types etc
- Safe mounting of wheels
- Safe use of disc cutter/grinder
- Practical demonstration and use
Certification: Upon successful completion of the end of course assessment the learners will receive a certificate of attendance supplied by the training provider.
NB: Learners must supply their own Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for this course.
