Who should attend

All learners who are employed as planning officers for mobile lane closures.



Learners must have complete the half day NHSS Temporary Traffic Management Basic Course (TTMBC).


Course aims

To provide learners with the necessary knowledge to becoming a Planning Officer for mobile lane closures.

Course Objectives:

On completion of the session learners will:

  • Be aware of sector schemes and general health and safety at work
  • Be aware of reference documentation relevant to Mobile Lane Closure Techniques
  • Be able to conduct pre-works checks on MLC advance warning vehicles and trailers
  • Be able to conduct pre-works checks on MLC Block vehicle
  • Be able to conduct pre-works briefing for an MLC team
  • Understand the roles and responsibilities of MLC operatives and Supervisors
  • Understand the principles and practical techniques when using the Mobile Lane Closure Technique

Certification: On completion, all learners will undertake an operative and supervisor multiple-choice question paper which carries a 75% pass mark. Lantra Awards will award learners which have passed both tests with a Lantra card which is valid for 5 years.
