Who should attend?
Those who already work in the highways maintenance and utilities sector and already hold the NRSWA qualification and whose SWQR card requires renewing.
Pre-requisites
Learners must have a NRSWA license within the grace period to renew.
Course aims
Re-assessment is undertaken through an open book multiple choice question paper for each unit.
Course Objectives:
For operatives, at the end of this qualification, your practical skills, knowledge and understanding will have been reassessed on:
- Location and avoidance of underground apparatus
- Signing, lighting and guarding.
Plus, one or more of these skills:
- Excavation in the highway
- Reinstatement and compaction of backfill materials
- Reinstatement of sub-base and base in non-bituminous materials
- Reinstatement in cold lay bituminous materials
- Reinstatement in hot lay bituminous materials
- Reinstatement of concrete slabs
- Reinstatement of modular surfaces, concrete footways.
For supervisors, at the end of this qualification, your practical skills, knowledge and understanding will have been reassessed on:
- Location and avoidance of underground apparatus
- Monitoring signing, lighting and guarding.
Plus, one or more of these skills:
- Monitoring excavation in the highway
- Monitoring reinstatement and compaction of backfill materials
- Monitoring reinstatement of sub-base and base in non-bituminous materials
- Monitoring reinstatement in bituminous materials
- Monitoring reinstatement of concrete slabs
- Monitoring reinstatement of modular surfaces, concrete footways.
Certification: On completion all learners will be registered with the certificating body who will issue a certificate to successful learners. Additionally, of the successful learners with be registered with the SWQR (Street Works Qualification Register) and will be issued with a registration card.
Refresher training is required every 5 years to keep your qualification valid.
