Who should attend

All persons who will be required by their employer to undertake the role of a traffic management foreman for static traffic management work on motorways and/or high-speed dual carriageways incorporating contraflow operations and/or temporary road markings.

Pre-requisites

Learners must have completed and passed the NHSS 12B LTMO (Lead Traffic Management Operative) Course. Learners are also eligible to attend the course if they are refreshing an existing foreman’s ticket.

Course aims

The course aims to provide learners with the required information to operate as a Traffic Management Foreman.

Course Objectives:

Learners will complete cover the following objectives:

  • The TMF role
  • Sector scheme document
  • Differences between standard works and works with relaxations
  • CH8 references tables and key to symbols
  • Temporary road markings
  • Temporary speed limits
  • Hard shoulder running
  • Narrow lanes
  • Contraflow operations
  • Design and planning for TTM closures

Learners who score 70-74% will be permitted to re-sit the paper not less than 2 weeks and no more than 8 weeks after the initial test date. Only one re-sit will be permitted. If a learners is again unsuccessful they must re-sit the whole course before taking the test again. Learners scoring less than 70% must re-sit the whole course before re-sitting the end of course test. Refresher training All learners will be expected to refresh their training every 5 years in order to keep this qualification.

Certification: Lantra 12a Foreman Registration Card.
