Better Equipment, Better Training
We believe keeping Up To Speed with evolving technology and new industry equipment is an essential part of delivering high-quality training and assessment.
That’s why we’ve recently taken delivery of new RC2 tripod portable traffic signals from Traffic Group Signals, giving our learners hands-on experience with modern equipment that reflects what they’re likely to encounter – or already use – when working out on the network.
For experienced learners, working with familiar equipment can help them feel more at ease, support their learning and give them the best opportunity to demonstrate their skills during assessment. For those new to the industry, learning with current equipment helps build confidence and familiarity that they can take into their future workplaces.
That’s why we use a range of traffic signals as training aids and for assessments; these new portable units are the latest welcome addition.
Learner safety and wellbeing has of course been another consideration with these new signals;
The lighter-weight units are easier to handle, meaning they can be promptly deployed and easily moved when necessary, which helps reduce the physical demands of lifting and carrying. Alongside appropriate manual handling guidance and practices, this can help reduce the risk of injury.
The tripods are configured at eye level, which maintains line of sight of oncoming vehicles and supports good ergonomics.
The signal controller also displays the behaviour of the signals in the set-up, which provides real-time feedback to the operator, promoting ease-of-use and safety by reducing time spent on site.
There are also potential environmental benefits, too. Transporting lighter equipment can help reduce fuel consumption and place less strain on our vehicles, potentially contributing to less wear and tear over time.
A big thank you to Traffic Group Signals for supplying the new units!
Keeping our equipment up to date helps keep us and our learners Up To Speed.
