NHSS12 Grace Period to be abolished

Lantra have recently informed all those working within the governance of National Highway
Sector Scheme 12, that the NHSS 12ABCD Committee and Lantra will be making
changes to the 6 month grace period ‘rule’, which will take effect from 01 April 2026.

Key Points:

• The 6 month grace period prior to skills expiring will remain the same
• The existing 6 month grace period applied after skills have expired is to be
  removed from 01 April 2026

Notes:
This will not change current practice as detailed below:

• When a skill expires the skill will no longer show on the e-Card and the card
  holder cannot work on site for the specific skill which has expired
• Only the skills showing on the e-Card are valid

Further updates will be communicated to advise how this will affect individuals
should they not renew their skills in time.
