Who should attend

All persons whose employment duties includes the managing and co-ordinating the movements of vehicles in either a yard or site environment, specifically when reversing of vehicles is required.

Course aims

The course will give individuals the knowledge of how to direct vehicle movements in compliance with their Company instructions and health & safety policy. The course enables learners to be able to provide directions to drivers using hand/arm signals and raises awareness of the safety factors connected with vehicle movements in the workplace.

Course Objectives:

Upon completion of the course the learner will understand and be able to demonstrate:

  • The Responsibility of a Banksman
  • Workplace Transport Safety Policy
  • Pre-planning the reversing manoeuvre THINK!
  • Importance of Communication
  • Using arm/hand signals to direct drivers

Certification: All learners will undertake a multi-choice questions paper which requires an 80% pass mark. A practical assessment will also be undertaken, upon being successful learners will then be issued with a certificate.

NB: Note: All learners must be physically fit and mentally mature.
