Removal of NHSS12 post expiry 6 month grace period

A reminder that from 1st April 2026, a key change is coming that will impact the Temporay Traffic Management sector.

Lantra and the NHSS 12ABCD Committee are removing the six-month post-expiry grace period for NHSS 12 skills.

What this means:

• Once a skill expires, it’s expired
• There is no grace period for renewal after this date
• To regain an expired skill, it must be restarted from scratch

Only valid and current qualifications will appear on the e-Card – expired ones will NOT

Our advice to avoid being caught out:

• Review skills not to ensure you have captured any renewals in good time before 1st April
• Moving forward, plan renewals early. Treat expry dates as hard deadlines.
• Check e-cards regularly.
