Up To Speed Training has proudly opened the doors to its brand-new southern training venue in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire – a major step forward in expanding its nationwide training provision and enhancing its service to the highways industry.
Located in the heart of the Southeast, the Hemel Hempstead site becomes the third venue in the Up To Speed network, sitting alongside existing hubs in Birmingham and Dewsbury. Its launch forms part of the company’s long-term commitment to accessibility, regional reach, and delivering high-quality, compliant training across the UK.
For years, clients based in the south have travelled significant distances to attend courses at Up To Speed’s Midlands headquarters. The opening of the Hemel Hempstead centre is a direct response to their continued loyalty – providing a more convenient, localised option without compromising on the high standards learners have come to expect.
Adrian Pulham, Up To Speed Managing Director, speaking on the significance of the new location and national reach said:
“Up To Speed has had an eye on a strategic move to the south for a while now, it was just about finding the right venue. Hemel Hempstead has good access from both the M1 and M25, and the venue we’ve secured is one we feel our learners will thrive in.
“We’re very grateful to all of our southern-based learners for their years of support, and we hope this step will now make their career journey’s more convenient.”
The Hemel Hempstead centre will offer a range of courses, delivered by industry professionals with hands-on experience and deep knowledge of traffic management standards. It’s not just a new location – it’s a statement of Up To Speed’s ongoing investment in the sector and in the people who keep the roads safe.
Adam Mills, Up To Speed Commercial Director, when reflecting on the company’s journey and how this supports the business vision told us:
“From our Birmingham centre, Up To Speed has been a ‘national’ operation for some time now in the sense that we have provided training and assessment to learners from all over the UK.
“Now, following on from our most recent new site in Dewsbury, being able to offer training from another location at Hemel Hempstead strengthens the nationwide delivery and gives more convenient options for the industry to access training with us – something we’ve always aspired to.”
With the venue now fully operational, the first wave of course dates has been announced and is available to book via the Up To Speed website. Courses already confirmed include some of the more popular requests :
NHSS12 TTMBC (Temporary Traffic Management Basic Course)
NHSS12 12D T1/T2 (Static Works on Single Carriageways)
NHSS12 12AB Operative
NHSS12 Gate Person / Airlock Installer – a newly mandated requirement for all works on National Highways-managed roads
NHSS12 12B LTMO
NHSS12 12A TMF
NHSS12 12A TSCO
More courses will be added in the coming weeks, and Up To Speed will continue their promise of delivering to the highest industry standard
Richard Lea, Lead Trainer at Up To Speed, added:
“For myself and our other trainers, we’re excited to welcome learners through our doors in the south. The Hemel location is one we’re sure they’ll enjoy learning in.”
The launch of the Hemel Hempstead hub is another milestone in the Up To Speed journey – a reflection of the company’s belief in making good, quality training accessible, creating opportunities, and improving safety standards across the wider highways sector.
